Nate Holt – moving on

Filed under: Musings — nateholt @ 7:02 am

Out-of-the-blue phone call, another company wanting to recruit me. I initially resisted.

But it has been pretty tough since the lay-off almost two years ago. And issues probably common to most entrepreneurs… providing high-quality services but in some cases waiting months to get  paid (and even finding that many months of high-quality services are not going to be paid at all!) give a certain appeal to a steady paycheck and company-paid health insurance. But the key thing was this… the new job sounds complex and challenging… something that seems to appeal to my DNA. I just can’t help it.

In the next week or so I will be moving on. It is with sadness I bid farewell to AutoCAD Electrical.

Note: with “moving on”, it is awkward for me to maintain AutoCAD Electrical-related postings. These had to be deleted. Very sorry…

  1. Nate:

Good luck with your move! The Acad-e community will have a great big pair of shoes to fill!

If I may ask – where are you taking a job?

  2. Nate:

Will there be any way to get ahold of some of those postings that have been removed? Are they archived anywhere? Posted on another site? There’s some stuff in there I was hoping to go through and roll out to some of my users.

    please let me know,
    Scott

  3. Hi Nate,

Please know that you will be missed greatly… …I have enjoyed working with you these many years, from the early days of Toolbox/WD to the latest release of AutoCAD Electrical, but please know also that your friendship has meant much more to me than the technical stuff.

    With sadness,

    Doug

  4. Nate,
I have learned a great deal from your blog—your explanations were easy and logical to follow.
I second the request—is there ANY way we could have access to some of the content? Cross post or a download?
Thanks for your help through the years,
    Robert

  5. Nate,
I second Scott’s second comment, is there anyway we can obtain all of those posts? I will miss your insight into ACAD -E, and I understand about the need for a steady paycheck. I would appreciate any information or new sources you might be aware of.
Good luck into your new adventures, you will truly be missed!

  6. Nate,

    Congratulations with your move.
It’s a pity that you as Guru of AutoCAD Electrical has left the AutoCAD Electrical arena.
Many thanks for your help and support.

    Best regards,

    Gerald

  9. Nate,
Your many postings in your AutoCAD Electrical have been a GREAT help to young AutoCADE users as myself. I just found your site and blog about a month ago and was soaking up as much as possible before you removed your site. Is there a way to get a digital copy of your past postings for reference?

    Thank you,
    Greg

  10. Well, after doing some googling, I came across this interesting tidbit on LinkedIn:

Apparently Nate is now working for Bentley, which means Promis-e. Wow…

  11. Nate,

You blog on ACADE has been a great tool. But can you point an AE into a direction about how to share project libraries and databases on a network server?
