Some weeks afterwards , a friend wanted me to go with him to the site. We jumped in his pick-up and drove all day. Spent the next day there and then drove back. Unforgettable.

Something that tore at my heart on that day five years ago…

I circumnavigated the “Ground Zero” site yesterday (8-Nov-2001), getting as close as the police would allow (not real close). But there were a number of make-shift memorials set up at various points around the site’s perimeter with flowers, notes, pictures, and hundreds of teddy-bears. At one of these, between the towers and the southern tip of Manhattan near Battery Park, I found these two notes posted side-by-side along a fence. There was a small rock between them with “I love you daddy” painted on it. Pretty sad.
